Axis Mundi Yantra (Head Gear), 2009.

Axis Mundi Yantra (Head Gear) was originally created in conjunction with Axis Mundi Yantra, a site-specific performance/installation by Ryan Brewer at Parsons the New School for Design. The headpiece was later photographed by New York-based photographer Brett Lindell as part of an ongoing collaboration with Brewer (pictured above, Brooklyn, 2013.)

The sculpture plays with themes of (hyper)masculinity as an aggressive and precarious force/farce, but sought to preserve whatever elegance and strength may lie in phallic form, streamlining brutality and beautifying weaponry.
