Neomodern Systems is a selection of early works by Ryan Brewer that were all completed during his undergraduate studies at Parsons School of Design. At the time, Brewer was particularly influenced by Minimalism and Arte Povera. In 2009, he received an Award for Outstanding Student Achievement: Honorable Mention from the International Sculpture Center & Sculpture Magazine for his piece Event Horizon, a kinetic installation that utilized multiple lighting elements to explore the celestial phenomenon of black holes.
