Who’s Afraid of Red, White, and Black? (Ritual Action), 2012
Performed in collaboration with AA Bronson & Elijah Burgher on the evening of Friday April 13th, 2012 at 1:1, NYC.
Inspired by faerie circles, tea parties, group therapy, ceremonial magic, quilting bees, séances, circle jerks, and other spiritual, psychological and social forms, the three artists create a painting, invoke a community, and construct a conversation around suicide, sexuality, ritual, healing, and art.
Installation: Canvas, cast-concrete, cast-resin, water, body paint, acrylic paint, paint brushes, paint trays, paint rollers, makeup sponges, prayer candles, votive candles, smudge sticks, incense, charcoal, silver and brass ritual bowls, aloe spear, potted Rue plant, bone, wool army blankets, tarot cards, religious figurines, glassware, feathers, bean pod rattles, drawings on paper, laser print photograph on paper, ink jet print on paper, miscellaneous food/beverage refuse, space heaters, artists’ semen.
